President of Ukraine Calls on Poland to Give Its MiG Fighters to the Armed Forces
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy said he would like to get Poland to agree to transfer Soviet-model fighters, including MiGs, to Kyiv.
He said this at the Ukraine 2024. Independence forum.
He also explained why the transfer of Polish MiG fighters would be useful for Ukraine.
‘We really need your MiGs, because they have good avionics, and we will not waste time training pilots,’ Zelenskyy said.
He noted that he had raised this issue in conversations with Polish President Andrzej Duda and Prime Minister Donald Tusk.
‘But so far there is no positive decision,’ the president concluded.
In July, Tusk said that Poland could consider providing Ukraine with additional Soviet-model fighter jets if it could find a replacement for them together with its allies.
As The Gaze previously reported, Polish President Andrzej Duda visited Ukraine on the 33rd anniversary of its independence on 24 August. During the celebrations, he noted that Ukraine's independence is crucial for the security of Central Europe.
