President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy: Ukraine Lost During Russia's Full-Scale Invasion Much Less than Russians Lie
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has for the first time since the onset of the full-scale invasion, revealed the number of Ukrainian military personnel who have died repelling Russia's armed aggression in Ukraine. This information was disclosed by the Ukrainian head of state during his own press conference, emphasizing that Ukrainian losses are far fewer than what Russian propagandists and officials claim.
The President of Ukraine stressed that information from Russians claiming over 100,000 Ukrainian soldiers killed is "all lies and absolute nonsense."
"During this war, we lost 31,000 of our servicemen. It's not 300,000, not 150,000, as Putin lied. However, every person lost is a tragedy for us," said Volodymyr Zelensky.
At the same time, the Ukrainian President declined to disclose the number of wounded and missing in action among Ukrainian military personnel, citing the sensitivity of this data. "I cannot say how many are wounded because Russia wants to know our losses. There are missing in action; I don't want to play with figures, as the last exchange showed that we can be mistaken," he emphasized.
According to Zelensky, Russia's losses amount to 180,000 deceased servicemen and up to 500,000 wounded and killed combined (according to data from the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, approximately 409,000).
Volodymyr Zelensky also assured that Ukraine has a strategy for military actions for the current year, and there will be several scenarios considering the possibility of information leakage.
Today, Volodymyr Zelensky also held a meeting in Kyiv with leaders of G7 countries, including Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, Belgian Prime Minister Alexander De Croo, and President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen.
The leaders of the G7 countries called on Russia to stop aggression and withdraw its troops from Ukraine. Additionally, they promised to meet the "urgent financial needs" of Kyiv and refuse to recognize pseudo-elections in the occupied territories.
The statement emphasizes that the G7 countries are committed to supporting Ukraine's right to self-defence and ensuring its long-term security by concluding and implementing security guarantee agreements.
The G7 group urged the aggressor country to immediately cease the war and fully withdraw its troops from Ukraine. Moreover, they pledged not to recognize Russian "elections."
The G7 countries also committed to imposing new sanctions to weaken the Russian military machine and prevent third countries from bypassing these sanctions.
