Russia and Ukraine Have Reached a Local Ceasefire at the Zaporizhzhya Nuclear Power Plant
According to the IAEA the ceasefire was declared to allow for repairs to power lines.
The Gaze reports on it according to Reuters.
The Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Rafael Grossi, announced that a local truce had been declared near the occupied Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant. Work is being carried out there to repair power lines, Reuters reports.
The ceasefire was announced through the mediation of the IAEA. The agency is monitoring the repair work, which will take several days. The repairs are being carried out to prevent a nuclear accident.
The US peace plan proposes to restart the ZNPP not under IAEA control, but under the management of a new owner from the United States, with energy distributed 50/50. President Volodymyr Zelensky called this proposal unfair. US Special Representative Keith Kellogg said that resolving the issue of territories and ownership of the Zaporizhzhya Nuclear Power Plant is the most difficult part of resolving the war.
