Qatar Helped Return 68 Ukrainian Children Home

Ukrainian Ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets has confirmed that thanks to Qatar’s active support, 68 Ukrainian children who were previously deported by Russia have been successfully returned home, The Gaze reports.
Lubinets shared the news following a meeting with the Ambassador of the State of Qatar to Ukraine, Hadi Nasser Al-Hajri.
“First and foremost, I thanked Qatar for its effective and immensely important support in returning and rehabilitating Ukrainian children. A total of 68 children have come home with Qatar’s assistance,” Lubinets said.
The meeting also covered other pressing humanitarian issues, including the recent prisoner exchange, the return of unlawfully detained Ukrainian civilians, and the broader issue of Russia’s forced deportation of Ukrainian citizens — particularly women and children.
The two sides discussed expanding future cooperation, including the continued return and rehabilitation of deported children and support for affected women.
“I believe and know that Ukraine–Qatar cooperation will continue to be built on the principles of respect for human rights. I sincerely thank Qatar for such invaluable help,” Lubinets emphasized.
As The Gaze previously reported, the number of Ukrainian children illegally deported to Russia could be much higher than current official estimates.
Additionally, a bipartisan coalition of prominent U.S. Senators has introduced a resolution urging the unconditional return of all Ukrainian children abducted by Russian forces before any peace agreement to end the war in Ukraine is signed.
