Robert De Niro Sends New Year Message of Solidarity to Ukraine
Hollywood icon Robert De Niro has delivered a New Year message of support to Ukrainians, voicing solidarity with the country.
The Gaze reports this, referring to his video, published by UkraineWOW.
De Niro addressed the Ukrainian people on behalf of his family, expressing hopes that 2026 would bring peace, freedom, and personal safety after years of hardship caused by the invasion.
“During this festive season, my family and I wish you prosperity, joy, safety, freedom, and peace,” the actor said, closing his message with the words “Glory to Ukraine,” a phrase that has become a symbol of international solidarity with the country.
De Niro’s remarks underline his continued public support for Ukraine. In 2024, the Oscar-winning actor officially joined the group of ambassadors for the United24 initiative, a state-backed platform that raises funds for Ukraine’s defense, humanitarian aid, and reconstruction. Since then, he has repeatedly condemned Russia’s aggression and urged the global community to maintain assistance to Kyiv.
Born into a family with Italian roots traced through his paternal grandfather, he began his artistic journey at an early age. At just ten years old, De Niro made his stage debut at the dramatic studio of Maria Piscator, performing the role of the Cowardly Lion in The Wizard of Oz.
For more than a decade, De Niro has also served as the driving force behind the Tribeca Film Festival, one of the most prominent cultural events in the United States, regularly attended by leading Hollywood figures.
De Niro’s New Year message to Ukraine follows a series of high-profile gestures of support, including participation in international video campaigns alongside dozens of other global celebrities.
As The Gaze reported earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy began the New Year by reaffirming Ukraine’s commitment to peace and highlighting crucial support from Europe and the United States.
