Romania Has Joined the Training of Ukrainian Military Forces
Romania is the tenth participating country in the multinational operation INTERFLEX, conducting training for Ukrainian defenders under the basic military preparation program.
This information was reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Currently, countries such as Sweden, Canada, the Netherlands, Denmark, New Zealand, Lithuania, Australia, Norway, and Finland under the leadership of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland are participating in the training program for Ukrainian military personnel.
According to the report, as of now, 30,000 Ukrainian servicemen have undergone military training within the INTERFLEX program. The project was launched in June 2022 when several Ukrainian allies decided to involve their military personnel to train Ukrainian military in advanced combat technologies used by Western armies.
Earlier this month, a training center for Ukrainian pilots opened in Romania, where they are learning to operate American F-16 fighters. It is also expected that the training will be extended to Romanian pilots and military personnel from other NATO member countries.
The training will approximately last for six months. Meanwhile, already trained pilots will undergo advanced qualification training. It was also announced that the Netherlands transferred the first batch of F-16 fighters to the Romanian center for Ukrainian pilots, with a total expectation of transferring 18 training aircraft.
Earlier this week, the Minister of Defense of Romania, Angel Tilvar, together with his Dutch counterpart Kajsa Ollongren, inaugurated the European F-16 Training Center at the Fetesti military airbase. The base is located 150 kilometers east of Bucharest, and it is there that Ukrainian pilots will undergo training.
Recall that The Gaze reported that the Czech Parliament decided to extend the combat training of Ukrainian military on its territory until the end of 2024.
In addition, this month it became known that France has committed to training an additional seven thousand Ukrainian servicemen. It is expected that part of the training will take place in Poland and at French bases within the European Union Mission for Military Assistance to Ukraine (EUMAM). This mission brings together 24 countries providing training modules and personnel.
