On the night of 27 September, Russia once again attacked civilian targets and port infrastructure in Ukraine, near the river border with Romania, on the Kiliya arm of the Danube.

This was reported by the Romanian Ministry of Defence.

As a result, two F-16 aircraft and two F-18 fighters were sent into the air to monitor the situation. At the same time, one of the drones probably flew into the country.

‘To monitor the situation, two F-16s of the Romanian Air Force took off from Borca Air Base 86 starting at 1:52 a.m., followed by two more F-18s of the Spanish Air Force at 3:22 a.m. The forces from the Expanded Combat Air Policing Service, from Mihail Kogelnicianu 57th Air Base. All four fighters landed at the airbase at around 4:00,’ the statement said.

It is noted that during this period of time, Romania's radar surveillance system indicated the likelihood that one of the Russian drones involved in the attack on Ukrainian targets flew into Romanian airspace in the border area at around 3:00 am and stayed there for less than three minutes.

According to the military, there are no reports of a strike zone in the country. Forces of the Ministry of National Defence are searching the area together with aviation and ground teams.

‘The Romanian Ministry of Defence strongly condemns these attacks carried out by the Russian Federation against certain objects and elements of Ukrainian civilian infrastructure, which are unjustified and seriously contrary to international law,’ the defence ministry added.

On the night of 27 September, Russia attacked the city of Izmail in southern Odesa region with drones. The attack resulted in deaths and injuries.

On the morning of 27 September, the Ukrainian Air Force reported that the Russian army had struck Ukraine with an Iskander-M/KN-23 ballistic missile, two X-22 cruise missiles, and launched 32 Shahed attack drones. Ukraine's air defence forces destroyed 24 UAVs.

As The Gaze previously reported, in August, fragments of a drone were found near Romania's border with Ukraine.
