Drone Debris Found Near Romanian Border with Ukraine Once Again
The Romanian Ministry of Defence said on Tuesday that fragments of a drone had been found near the border with Ukraine. According to Ukrinform, this was reported by Radio Liberty with reference to a statement by the Romanian Ministry of Defence.
It is noted that on 20 August, experts conducted a study near the village of Periprava, Tulcea County. The investigative team seized material evidence from the scene for examination.
The Ministry of Defence of Romania, which is a NATO member, noted that it informs allied structures in real time about the situation caused by the attacks.
‘We also reiterate our strong condemnation of the attacks carried out by the Russian Federation against some targets and elements of Ukrainian civilian infrastructure, which are unjustified and seriously contrary to international law,’ the Romanian defence ministry said in a statement.
On the night of 20 August, Russian troops attacked Ukraine with attack drones and cruise missiles. According to the Ukrainian Air Force, the Ukrainian military shot down 28 air targets in Kyiv, Dnipro, Mykolaiv, Kherson, Vinnytsia, Khmelnytsky, Kirovohrad, Sumy, and Chernihiv regions.
The Romanian village of Periprava is located near the Ukrainian border, across the Danube River from the Ukrainian town of Vylkove in Odesa Oblast.
Last month, during another massive Russian missile and drone attack on Ukraine, the wreckage of three Russian attack drones was found in Romania.
Romanian Foreign Minister Luminica Odobescu said that Romania had informed its allies about the incident and was coordinating its actions with them.
‘Russia has carried out even more horrific attacks on Ukrainian civilian infrastructure. The wreckage was found on Romanian territory,’ the minister said.
‘Romania strongly condemns these irresponsible actions,’ she stressed.
