Russian Assault on Kyiv Kills Four, Leaves Widespread Civilian Damage

A wave of Russian drone strikes on Kyiv overnight and into the morning left four people dead, including a 12-year-old girl, and at least thirteen others injured.
The Gaze reports this, referring to statements made by city and military officials.
Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said the attacks caused damage at nearly 20 sites across six districts of the capital.
Falling debris caused fires, collapses of residential buildings, and severe damage to kindergartens, state medical facilities, cars and other civilian infrastructure.
“At present, according to medical officials, there are 13 injured in the capital as a result of the enemy attack and three dead. Four of the injured are currently in hospitals. Eight are receiving outpatient care. One woman was treated at the scene by medics,” Klitschko wrote on social media.
The Kyiv City Military Administration also confirmed that the death toll had risen.
“The body of a 12-year-old girl was recovered at the site of the attack in the Solomianskyi district. Once again, Russia has added to the grim toll of children killed,” administration chief Tymur Tkachenko said, later updating the number to four as another body was discovered.
Emergency crews spent the morning clearing rubble, extinguishing fires, and evacuating residents from damaged structures.
Authorities warned that the casualty figures could still rise as recovery operations continue.
The bombardment of Kyiv came only hours after Russian attacks on Zaporizhzhia injured at least 21 people.
Later, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Russia launched one of its heaviest attacks on Ukraine in months, striking the country for more than 12 hours with nearly 500 drones and over 40 missiles, including hypersonic “Kinzhal” weapons.
The strikes targeted Kyiv and its region as well as Zaporizhzhia, Khmelnytskyi, Sumy, Mykolaiv, Chernihiv and Odesa. Nationwide, officials reported at least 40 wounded, including children.
