Russian Strikes Damage EU Mission and Polish Embassy in Kyiv

Russia’s largest overnight assault on Ukraine in months has damaged the diplomatic missions of both the European Union and Poland in Kyiv.
The Gaze reports this referring to a post by EU Ambassador to Ukraine Katarína Mathernová and RMF FM.
The EU Delegation in Ukraine sustained damage after missiles and drones rained down on the city early Sunday, EU Ambassador Katarína Mathernová confirmed.
Several cars parked on the mission’s grounds were destroyed, though no staff were injured.
“All of my colleagues are safe and we continue our work. Kyiv stands – and the European Union stands with it. This night is yet another reminder that Russia deliberately targets civilians and seeks to terrorise them. It will not succeed. Ukraine has the right to live in peace and security,” Mathernová wrote.
She pledged continued EU support for Ukraine, including humanitarian aid and reconstruction efforts.
In addition, Poland’s foreign ministry confirmed that its embassy compound in Kyiv was struck.
A projectile, described as either a missile fragment or a small rocket, punctured the roof of the consular section and landed in a kitchen, according to spokesman Paweł Wroński. No injuries were reported and the mission is expected to operate normally on Monday.
Poland also scrambled fighter jets in response to Russia’s combined missile-and-drone assaults near its border.
The overnight attack involved nearly 600 drones and around 50 missiles, according to Ukrainian officials. Strikes across the country left more than 70 people injured, with four fatalities reported in Kyiv, among them a 12-year-old girl.
