Spain Considers Supplying Ukraine with Advanced Radar and Electronic Warfare Systems

Spain is weighing a new package of military support to Ukraine, including cutting-edge air-defense radars and electronic warfare systems, The Gaze reports, citing United 24 Media.
The move follows a high-level meeting in March between Ukraine’s Defense Minister Rustem Umerov and Spanish Defense Minister Margarita Robles, where both sides committed to expanding military-industrial cooperation.
At the heart of the discussions is Spanish defense giant Indra, which is in advanced talks to supply Ukraine with its Nemus mobile 3D radar system and Lanza air-surveillance radar, both designed to detect missile and drone threats with high precision.
Indra officials recently completed a three-day visit to Kyiv, meeting Ukrainian defense and aviation authorities to assess frontline requirements and integration options.
The Nemus radar, successfully tested on a Leopard 2A4 chassis in May 2025, is highly mobile and ideal for rapid deployment in Ukraine’s dynamic combat zones.
Meanwhile, the Lanza 3D radar, already operational with the Spanish Air Force and exported to Portugal and Uruguay, offers long-range early-warning coverage crucial to Ukraine’s air defense architecture.
Talks also included electronic warfare (EW) modules for airborne use and space-segment technologies—including satellite communication, command-and-control solutions, and data resilience tools—to bolster Ukraine’s battlefield awareness.
Since early 2023, Spain has supplied Ukraine with ammunition and mines worth over €200 million, signaling a strategic shift toward sustained defense assistance amid evolving Western security priorities.
