‘Standing United in Support of Ukraine’: Canada Imposes New Sanctions on Russia

Canada has imposed sanctions on 31 Russian citizens and Russian paramilitary groups that support aggression against Ukraine, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's office said after he attended a leaders' summit in London on Ukraine.
‘During the Securing Our Future Summit, the Prime Minister announced new sanctions against 10 individuals and 21 entities, including paramilitary organisations and their leaders, to help counter Russia's use of third-party organisations and countries to advance its political and military goals in Ukraine,’ the government office said.
According to the government, the sanctions announced today include ‘nine leaders of post-Agner paramilitary organisations, one member of the associated senior Russian military leadership, nine paramilitary organisations operating in Ukraine and in the Kremlin's African network, as well as 12 associated organisations responsible for resource extraction in this network’.
The government reminded that Canada has imposed sanctions on more than 3,000 individuals and organisations associated with Russian aggression. ‘Canada is determined to continue to work with partners to increase economic pressure on Russia,’ the Prime Minister's Office said.
As reported by The Gaze, a meeting of the leaders of partner countries to support Ukraine was held in the UK on 2 March, attended by representatives of Germany, Denmark, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Spain, Canada, Finland, Sweden, the Czech Republic and Romania.
