The Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada (Ukrainian Parliament), Ruslan Stefanchuk, called on the international community to counter Russian disinformation and strengthen support for Ukraine at the G7 Parliamentary Summit in Ottawa.

The Gaze reports on it, referring to a post by the Speaker of the Ukrainian Parliament on Facebook.

Stefanchuk stressed that Russia has been lying to the world and its own citizens for decades, and is now doing so even more aggressively, using digital platforms to spread fake news, interfere in the internal affairs of states, attempt to rig elections, and justify its own crimes.

He emphasized that Russia uses lies as a weapon on par with missiles and drones, and that this can only be countered with truth, unity, and increased support for Ukraine.

"Until we work together to make Russia want peace, it will continue to use all methods to promote its narratives and achieve its criminal goals. That is why a joint and decisive response is needed," said the Head of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.

He also noted that “the path to a just peace is the path of strength.” Ukraine needs reliable security guarantees, modern weapons, powerful air defense systems, and a tough sanctions policy, which should include the use of frozen Russian assets.

“Truth unites us. Truth makes us stronger. It is the truth about Ukraine's struggle that is the foundation of our common victory and the guarantee of preserving global democracy,” Stefanchuk concluded.

In addition, at the G7 parliamentary summit in Canada, Speaker of the House of Commons of Canada Francis Scarpaleggia stated that all parliaments of the G7 countries are ready to contribute to achieving a just and lasting peace in Ukraine.

“On behalf of the speakers of the lower houses of the parliaments of the G7 member states, I would like to reaffirm the G7's unwavering commitment to supporting Ukraine's sovereignty and achieving a comprehensive, just, and lasting end to the war,” Scarpaleggia emphasized.

He also expressed his condolences on the murder of former Verkhovna Rada Chairman Andriy Parubiy, stressing that political violence has no place in democratic societies.

As The Gaze reported earlier, Russian propaganda is exploiting the assassination of Andriy Parubiy, former Speaker of Ukraine’s Parliament and a prominent political figure, to spread disinformation, deepen divisions, and destabilize Ukrainian society.
