UAE Restricts Re-Export of Goods From the EU to Russia

The European Union has reached an agreement with the United Arab Emirates to limit the re-export of dual-use goods to Russia. Russia utilizes such goods for attacks on Ukraine.
This information is reported by Bloomberg.
According to the publication, this week, the European Commission announced the agreement reached after discussions among EU member states.
Amid intensified international efforts to ensure compliance with sanctions aimed at weakening Russia's military capabilities, this step is considered "significant" and is expected to substantially restrict the Kremlin's ability to acquire "sensitive" goods and technologies, which were later discovered in Russian weaponry found on Ukrainian territory.
An official representative of the UAE confirmed that the country is limiting the export and re-export of dual-use products to the conflict zone and is using specific legislation to track the export of such products.
It is worth noting that after the EU, along with G7 countries, imposed sanctions on the export of dual-use goods to Russia, the Kremlin actively sought ways to circumvent such restrictions, including through third countries in Central Asia, as well as the UAE and Turkey.
Currently, Turkey is also considering the possibility of imposing restrictions on the re-export of "sensitive" goods to Russia.
At the same time, China and Hong Kong are considered the supply hub for goods to Russia, accounting for over 80% of all Russian purchases.
Journalists have also identified new potential delivery routes for goods to Russia. Recently, there has been a noticeable increase in exports from Turkey and Serbia to Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan. According to the publication, this indicates the Kremlin's search for new, more complex supply routes to circumvent sanctions.
Earlier, The Gaze reported that Russian trading companies still have the opportunity to buy firearms and ammunition from the US and Europe.
In particular, since the full-scale invasion of Ukraine by Russia in February 2022, despite imposed sanctions on Russia, at least 7,300 units of firearms and about eight million rounds of ammunition produced by Western companies have been imported into Russia.
The Gaze also previously revealed how Western companies are assisting to modernize Russian missiles and analyzed the main schemes that help Russia circumvent sanctions.
