The British publication BBC has announced its list of the top 100 most influential and inspiring women in the world. This year, three Ukrainians have made it to the list.

The list was published on the BBC website.

The BBC 100 Women 2023 list includes among others the Ukrainian writer Oksana Zabuzhko, children's rights advocate Olena Rozvadovska, and climate expert Iryna Stavchuk.

Oksana Zabuzhko is a renowned Ukrainian writer and intellectual, known for her works in prose, poetry, and non-fiction. Zabuzhko's works have been translated into 20 languages. She has received numerous national and international awards, including the Angelus Central European Literary Prize and the French National Order of the Legion of Honour. Western readers are familiar with Zabuzhko, primarily through works such as "Field Research on Ukrainian Sex" and "Museum of Abandoned Secrets."

Children's rights advocate Olena Rozadovska was compelled to join the military in 2015 when Russia began its illegal annexation of the Ukrainian peninsula of Crimea and territories in Eastern Ukraine. In 2019, Rozadovska co-founded the charity organization "Voices of Children," which provides psychological support and helps children cope with the trauma of war. Currently, over 100 psychologists work in Rozadovska's foundation across 14 support centers.

Iryna Stavchuk is a leading Ukrainian expert in climate policy. Recently, Stavchuk joined the European Climate Foundation as the program lead in Ukraine, where she focuses on developing green and climate-safe solutions for Ukraine's post-war reconstruction. Previously, Iryna worked in the Ukrainian government as a deputy environment minister. Stavchuk is also the co-founder of two non-governmental environmental organizations - Ecoaction and Kyiv Cyclists' Association (U-Cycle).

It's worth noting that the BBC 100 Women 2023 list also includes former U.S. First Lady Michelle Obama, human rights activist Amal Clooney, Golden Ball-winning footballer Aitana Bonmatí, AI expert Timnit Gebru, feminist icon Gloria Steinem, Hollywood star America Ferrera, and beauty mogul Huda Kattan.

Earlier, The Gaze reported that two Ukrainian educators made it into the ranking of the best teachers in the world according to the Global Teacher Prize.
