Trump Declares 8 May as US Victory Day in World War II

US President Donald Trump has announced that from now on, 8 May will be Victory Day in World War II in America.
The Gaze reports on this with reference to his post on Truth Social.
‘Many of our allies and friends are celebrating May 8th as Victory Day, but we did more than any other Country, by far, in producing a victorious result on World War II. I am hereby renaming May 8th as Victory Day for World War II ,’ Trump wrote.
He added that on 11 November, the United States will celebrate Victory Day in World War I.
Trump said that the United States ‘won both wars’: ‘nobody was close to us in terms of strength, bravery, or military brilliance.’ The head of the White House also noted that the United States ‘never celebrate anything’ because the country doesn't have 'leaders anymore, that know how to do so’.
‘We are going to start celebrating our victories again!’ Trump said.
In 2023, Ukraine established 8 May as the Day of Remembrance and Victory over Nazism in World War II of 1939-1945.
As The Gaze reported earlier, in 2024, Ukraine marked 8 May as the Day of Remembrance and Victory over Nazism in World War II for the first time.
