Trump to Meet European Leaders, Hold Call with Putin in Push to End Russia-Ukraine War

U.S. President Donald Trump said on Sunday that he will host European leaders in Washington and hold a call with Russian President Vladimir Putin in the coming days.
The Gaze reports this, referring to Fox News.
Speaking to reporters after returning from the U.S. Open in New York, Trump revealed that “some European leaders will come to our country on Monday or Tuesday individually,” without specifying who was expected.
The president added that he was “not satisfied” with the state of the war between Russia and Ukraine, after journalists asked him about the large-scale air attack on Sunday night, during which falling drone debris caused a fire at the Cabinet of Ministers in Kyiv.
Despite the escalation, Trump reiterated his belief that peace could be secured quickly. “Very soon, in the next few days, I will speak with Putin. Listen, we will do it. We will settle the situation between Russia and Ukraine. I am sure of it,” he told reporters.
Trump reminded journalists that during his presidency he had resolved seven conflicts once thought impossible to end. “All were resolved, all were satisfied. The one I thought would be the easiest – because of Putin, I believed it would be simpler – turned out not to be. But we will still reach a settlement,” he said.
In a separate exchange earlier on Sunday, Trump confirmed he was prepared to move to a “second stage” of sanctions against Russia aimed at forcing the Kremlin into a peace agreement.
Asked if he was ready to escalate punitive measures against Putin, he replied: “Yeah, I am.”
As The Gaze reported earlier, in the event of a peace agreement between Russia and Ukraine, the United States may take a leading role in monitoring a large buffer zone within Ukraine that would serve as a demilitarized territory to protect the country from potential Russian threats.
