Eight Ukrainian films will be presented this year in Poland, where the 40th anniversary edition of the Warsaw International Film Festival (WFF) is taking place, which started on 11 October and will end on 20 October. In particular, the world premiere of the documentary Family Album by Ukrainian director Maryna Tkachuk will take place. This is a film about the historical parallels between the Holodomor and the war in Ukraine. The second world premiere of Yegor Olesov's directorial debut is the film Daughter, about the events in Kyiv region at the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion.

A total of 139 films will be screened at the festival, including 84 feature films and 55 short films, according to the Ukrainian State Film Agency.

The festival programme includes six competition sections: international competition, documentary competition, short film competition and others.

The Warsaw Film Festival kicked off with a screening of Kulej, a film by Polish director Ksawierz Zulawski. All that Glitters Is Not Gold, which tells the story of the life of the legendary Polish boxer Jerzy Kulej.

The screenings will take place in the Kinoteka, Atlantic and Iluzjon cinemas in Warsaw.

This year's film festival programme features eight Ukrainian films.

Bucha by Stanislav Tiunov;

Family Album by Marina Tkachuk;

Real by Oleg Sentsov;

Armed with a Song by Ryan Smith;

The Call of the Cranes by Laura Warner;

The Daughter by Yegor Olesov;

War Correspondent by Benjamin Tuchek.

Last year, two Ukrainian films were awarded at the Warsaw Film Festival - Diagnosis: Dissent and Photophobia.
