Jerry Heil to Represent Ukraine as Spokesperson at Eurovision 2025 in Basel

Jerry Heil, the popular Ukrainian singer and songwriter, has been chosen to represent Ukraine as its spokesperson for the 69th Eurovision Song Contest, which will be held in Basel, Switzerland. She will announce the results of Ukraine’s national jury in the grand final on May 17, 2025.
The Gaze reports on this with reference to Ukrainian media.
Jerry Heil, who participated in Eurovision 2024 in Malmö, Sweden, expressed her excitement and deep connection to the competition. “Eurovision is like a family. Once you become part of it, you’re forever linked to this community. It’s a safe space where you can truly be yourself, and the music of your soul can be heard by the world. Last year, we spoke about how we wished Ukrainian music would be heard globally, not only between contests, but continuously. It's so fulfilling to see that our dreams are now coming true!” she shared.
Eurovision 2025 will be held on May 13, 15, and 17 in Basel, Switzerland, with each live broadcast focusing on a distinct theme, united by the slogan "Welcome Home." The event's slogan speaks to the sense of community and the feeling of belonging that Eurovision evokes in its participants and audiences alike. The show’s format will be designed to celebrate unity, music, and the positive power of international cooperation.
The event will be hosted by Hazel Brugger and Sandra Studer, with Michelle Hunziker joining them for the final. A total of 37 countries will compete, with 32 countries battling it out in the semifinals. Up to 20 finalists will be selected from these rounds. Additionally, the "Big Five" countries – the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy, and Spain – as well as last year's winner, Switzerland, will secure automatic places in the final. This ensures that these countries have a direct path to the final without the need to compete in the semifinals.
One of the first performances of the event will feature Ukrainian band Ziferblat, who will perform their song "Bird of Pray" during the first semifinal on May 13, taking the stage in the coveted slot number 5.
The Eurovision 2025 competition promises to be an exciting and culturally rich event, offering something unique for both participants and audiences alike.
As The Gaze reported earlier, Chief Rabbi of Ukraine Moshe Azman has released an emotional video message in the form of a song, directly addressing U.S. President Donald Trump and urging him to support Ukraine in its fight against Russian aggression.
