UK and Germany to Supply Ukraine with 220,000 Gepard Shells and Advanced Drones

The United Kingdom and Germany have unveiled a joint defense initiative aimed at significantly strengthening Ukraine’s air defense capabilities.
The Gaze reports this, referring to European Pravda.
The two nations will deliver 220,000 rounds of 35mm ammunition for Germany’s Gepard anti-aircraft systems and jointly finance the deployment of advanced combat drones to the Ukrainian battlefield.
The announcement was made by UK Defence Secretary John Healey and his German counterpart Boris Pistorius during the opening session of the 29th Ukraine Defense Contact Group (UDCG) meeting, commonly known as the Ramstein Format, held virtually on Monday.
As part of the partnership, Germany will provide funding for the production and delivery of the ammunition, which is urgently needed to sustain Ukraine’s ground-based air defense efforts.
“Together with our British allies, we will soon supply 220,000 rounds of 35mm ammunition for the Gepard air defense system,” Pistorius stated. “To protect Ukrainian skies, we must continue to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine in their efforts to degrade Russia’s aerial capabilities.”
Beyond ammunition, the initiative also includes financial backing for long-range unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) developed in Ukraine.
These drones have reportedly demonstrated strong battlefield performance, intercepting Russian aircraft, drones, and missiles before they can pose a threat.
“The systems funded by Germany will begin arriving within the coming days and will be immediately operational,” Pistorius added.
Secretary Healey highlighted that the UK has already committed £700 million this year toward artillery shells, long-range missiles, and defensive systems with £150 million delivered in just the past two months.
“Since March 2025, the UK has supplied nearly 50,000 drones to Ukraine,” he said. Additionally, Britain will allocate a further £40 million under NATO’s broader assistance package for Ukraine.
