Today, British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak will travel to Germany and Poland to announce a major increase in military support for Ukraine. It will include £500 million in additional military funding and the largest delivery of important equipment in British history.

This was reported on the British government's website.

In Poland, Rishi Sunak will meet with Prime Minister Donald Tusk to discuss deepening British-Polish relations. The officials will also hold talks with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg in Warsaw on European security and support for Ukraine. The Prime Minister will then travel to Germany to meet with Chancellor Olaf Scholz in Berlin.

"Defending Ukraine against Russia's brutal ambitions is vital for our security and for the whole of Europe. If Putin is allowed to succeed in this war of aggression, he will not stop at the Polish border. Ukraine's armed forces continue to fight bravely, but they need our support - and they need it now. Today's package will help ensure that Ukraine has everything it needs to fight Russia," said Prime Minister Rishi Sunak.

 "The UK was the first to provide NLAW missiles, the first to provide modern tanks and the first to send long-range missiles," said Defence Secretary Grant Shapps.

"This record-breaking military aid package will give President Zelenskyy and his brave nation more of the tools they need to drive out Putin and restore peace and stability to Europe," he added.

The additional funding of £500 million will be used to rapidly deliver urgently needed ammunition, air defence equipment, drones and engineering support. It is known that the drones will be purchased in the UK.

The UK Ministry of Defence will send Ukraine a package of equipment designed to repel Russian invasion on land, sea and in the air.

The aid package includes:

almost 4 million rounds of ammunition for small arms;

more than 1,600 strike and anti-aircraft missiles, as well as additional long-range Storm Shadow missiles

more than 400 vehicles, including 160 Husky protected vehicles, 162 armoured vehicles and 78 all-terrain vehicles;

60 boats, including raiding and diving boats, as well as naval guns.
