Ukraine and Italy Sign Four Cultural Cooperation Memorandums

During the Ukraine Recovery Conference 2025 in Rome, four memoranda on cultural cooperation between communities in Ukraine and Italy were signed, marking a new step in strengthening partnerships at the local government level.
The Gaze reports on this with reference to Ukrinform.
These agreements will form the basis for the implementation of joint cultural events, exchanges and initiatives.
Memoranda of cultural cooperation were signed by Novovolynsk, Ukraine, and Paliano, Italy, Boryslav and Atri, the Mena community and Silvi, Poltava and Monasterace.
"For the Ukrainian diaspora in Italy, this cooperation is not only symbolic but also practical: we are helping to unite communities around culture and shared historical memory. The National Congress of Ukrainian Organisations in Italy will continue to support such initiatives, because partnerships between communities in Ukraine and Italy are not only about mutual assistance, but also about shared values, memory and the future," said Lara Levchun, president of the National Congress of Ukrainian Organisations in Italy.
Culture and tourism are drivers of Ukraine's recovery, noted Minister of Culture and Strategic Communications Mykola Tochytskyi in his Facebook post.
‘During the URC2025 Conference on Ukraine's Recovery, a session was held on the role of culture and tourism in post-war recovery,’ the minister wrote, adding that Italy was the first country to sign an agreement on the restoration of cultural heritage in Ukraine — ‘and this is only the beginning of our joint work.’
‘During the discussion, the creation of a Tourism Alliance for Ukraine was announced — a platform for joining forces, supporting cultural initiatives, exchanging experience and developing creative industries,’ Tochitsky said.
He also thanked the partners and stressed that ‘the inclusion of culture and tourism in the recovery process means building a new reality of life in Ukraine, one that people want to live in, want to return to, and want to invest in.’
As The Gaze reported earlier, Italy will allocate €45 million for the reconstruction of six cultural monuments in the southern Ukrainian city of Odesa, Minister of Culture and Strategic Communications Mykola Tochytskyy announced at the Ukraine Recovery Conference in Rome.
