Ukraine Applies to Join Seven Military Higher Education Institutions to European Security and Defence College
The Ministry of Defence of Ukraine has applied to join seven Ukrainian military higher education institutions to the European Security and Defence College (ESDC) network. The ministry announced this on its website.
The Ministry of Defence of Ukraine explained that joining the European Security and Defence College (ESDC) will help to implement Euro-Atlantic standards in the military education system of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The following institutions can join the ESDC network:
- Hetman Petro Sahaidachnyi National Army Academy;
- Zhytomyr Military Institute named after S.P. Koroliov;
- Military Institute of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv;
- Military Institute of Telecommunications and Informatisation named after the Heroes of Kruty;
- Military Institute of Tank Troops of the National Technical University ‘Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute’;
- Military Law Institute of the Yaroslav Mudryi National Law University;
- Institute of Naval Forces of the National University ‘Odesa Maritime Academy’.
‘Integration into the ESDC network opens up new unique opportunities for our military education system.
This will allow us to improve the level of professional training of security and defence specialists in accordance with the best European practices, as well as strengthen Ukraine's cooperation with partner countries,’ said Deputy Minister of Defence of Ukraine Brigadier General of Justice Serhiy Melnyk.
Established in 2005, the European Security and Defence College operates as a network of civilian and military institutions, academies, universities and other organisations involved in security and defence issues within the EU.
Applications from Ukrainian institutions will be considered at a meeting of the ESDC Executive Scientific Board on 18-19 February 2025.
