Ukraine, Denmark to Launch Joint Defense Production Backed by EU Funding

Ukrainian defense manufacturers will establish joint production facilities in Denmark as part of a new cooperation framework designed to strengthen Europe’s collective defense capacity.
The Gaze reports this, referring to an announcement made by Ukraine’s Minister of Defense Denys Shmyhal.
The initiative will be supported by European Union financing and includes provisions for technology exchange and long-term industrial collaboration.
Shmyhal announced that Ukraine and Denmark have signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the participation of Denmark’s Defense Minister Troels Lund Poulsen, Minister for Industry, Business and Financial Affairs Morten Bødskov, and Minister of Foreign Affairs Lars Løkke Rasmussen.
According to Ukraine’s Defence Minister, the agreement marks a significant step toward building a new European security architecture, expanding Ukraine’s defense-industrial capabilities, and deepening strategic cooperation with NATO partners.
“During the war, jointly produced products will support the Defense Forces of Ukraine. In the long term, Ukrainian solutions and experience in the field of security will also enhance the defense capabilities of our allies,” Shmyhal said.
The memorandum lays the foundation for joint development and production of defense technologies, enabling Ukrainian companies to integrate their battlefield-tested innovations with European industrial resources.
The EU’s involvement in financing these projects signals growing confidence in Ukraine’s defense sector and its contribution to Europe’s security ecosystem.
The partnership builds on Denmark’s expanding role in supporting Ukraine’s defense industry, following a series of bilateral initiatives focused on drone manufacturing, demining technologies, and the “drone wall” program for Europe’s eastern flank.
The new Ukrainian-Danish defense production cooperation is expected to supply Ukraine’s armed forces and contribute to Europe’s long-term strategic resilience, integrating Ukrainian innovation into the continent’s collective security framework.
As The Gaze reported earlier, Ukrainian military specialists currently stationed in Denmark have demonstrated advanced drone interception tactics during a live training exercise aimed at enhancing air defense cooperation with NATO partners.
