Ukraine Evacuates 176 People from Israel Amid Security Crisis

On June 22, 2025, the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine (HUR), in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, conducted a successful evacuation operation from Israel amid escalating hostilities in the region. The mission was carried out under the instruction of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, The Gaze reports.
A total of 176 civilians were evacuated, including 133 Ukrainian citizens, as well as nationals from Moldova, Latvia, Azerbaijan, Estonia, and the United States. The evacuees were flown to the Republic of Moldova, from where Ukrainian citizens will continue their journey home.
“We were on vacation in Tel Aviv to escape the war in Ukraine, but we found ourselves in a terrifying situation again—explosions, shelling. I submitted an evacuation request through the embassy’s website, and just a few days later, we’re returning to Ukraine. I’m grateful to everyone who made this possible—President Zelenskyy, the embassy staff, and our intelligence services,” said an evacuee from Kyiv region.
The operation is part of Ukraine’s broader efforts to assist citizens in regions where security is rapidly deteriorating. It follows earlier successful evacuations from Syria and Lebanon.
“We were visiting my mother in Tel Aviv when the attacks began. Our flight was cancelled, and my mother reached out to the embassy. Thanks to everyone who helped—Ukraine doesn’t abandon its people. I’m happy to be back,” shared another evacuee, a mother from Kyiv.
Ukrainian authorities expressed gratitude to the officials of the Republic of Moldova for their cooperation in facilitating the evacuation.
As The Gaze previously reported, Ukraine’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has expressed strong support for the recent United States military strikes against Iran’s nuclear infrastructure, issuing a detailed statement condemning Iran’s actions and drawing attention to its support for Russia’s war against Ukraine.
