Ukraine Intelligence: Moscow Spreads Fake Story About Secret Talks in Alps

Ukraine’s military intelligence agency (HUR) has accused the Kremlin of launching a new disinformation campaign aimed at undermining the country’s resilience amid the ongoing war, The Gaze reports.
According to a statement released by HUR on July 29, 2025, Russian intelligence services—acting on direct orders from the Kremlin—initiated the active phase of a coordinated information operation designed to sow internal discord and destabilize Ukrainian society.
The campaign includes widespread dissemination of a fabricated story claiming that Ukrainian military and political leaders recently held a secret meeting with representatives from the United States and the United Kingdom, allegedly somewhere in the Alps.
The narrative, reportedly branded by Russia’s Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) and promoted by Kremlin propagandists, is aimed at stirring public distrust in Ukraine’s leadership and distracting the public from the war by refocusing attention on domestic political tensions and upcoming elections.
“This lie, hastily constructed by Yevgeny Naryshkin and stamped with the SVR’s seal, is meant to fracture unity, trigger infighting, and weaken Ukraine’s ability to resist the Russian occupiers,” HUR said.
Ukrainian intelligence also noted that the Kremlin is specifically targeting Ukraine’s military intelligence units, spreading false accusations such as alleged involvement of one officer in drug trafficking.
The HUR called on Ukrainian citizens and international audiences to practice information hygiene, avoid spreading Kremlin-originated disinformation, and remain focused on resisting Russia’s broader campaign of deceit and aggression.
