Ukraine Re-Elected to INTERPOL European Committee

From June 2 to 4, the 52nd European Regional Conference of INTERPOL took place in Athens, Greece, bringing together member states to discuss pressing security issues and set strategic priorities for Europe’s largest police organization.
As a result of the conference, Ukraine was re-elected to the INTERPOL European Committee for another four-year term, affirming its growing influence in regional and global law enforcement cooperation, The Gaze reports, citing the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine.
Ukraine was represented during the election campaign by Colonel Ivan Hulpa, acting head of the Department of International Police Cooperation and head of INTERPOL’s National Central Bureau in Ukraine. His leadership and diplomacy helped secure Ukraine’s continued presence on the committee, a consultative body that shapes INTERPOL’s European agenda and long-term strategy.
Ukraine has served on the European Committee since 2021 and has played a significant role in advancing the organization’s work. Notably, during the 49th European Regional Conference, Ukraine initiated Recommendation No. 5, which called on member states to intensify collaboration in investigating genocide, crimes against humanity, and war crimes.
In its new term, Ukraine plans to continue its push for stronger INTERPOL engagement in responding to international crimes. This includes working with other committee members to develop new mechanisms for accountability and ensuring the full use of INTERPOL’s mandate in investigating war crimes, particularly in the context of ongoing global conflicts.
