Ukraine Sees Significant Progress in Preparing Mineral Agreement with US

Ukraine's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy Yulia Svyrydenko has reported significant progress in negotiations with the US side on a minerals agreement.
The Gaze reports on this with reference to her Facebook post.
Svyrydenko announced a positive new step with the United States on an economic partnership agreement and the creation of an investment fund for the reconstruction of Ukraine.
‘Our technical teams have worked very thoroughly together on the agreement - there is significant progress, lawyers have made the right accents in the drafting of the agreement, I thank the negotiators on both teams,’ she wrote.
According to her, there is an agreement with the US side to record this positive development in a memorandum of intent.
‘We are preparing to complete the formalisation of the agreement in the near future,’ the Deputy Prime Minister said.
According to her, the teams will still be working on specific points in the agreement, although many have already been worked out.
‘The agreement will be subject to ratification by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, will provide opportunities for investment and development in Ukraine, and will provide conditions for tangible economic growth for both Ukraine and the United States,’ Svyrydenko explained.
As The Gaze reported earlier, the US has eased its demands for the return of aid from Ukraine during the negotiations on the subsoil deal.
On 11 April, US and Ukrainian officials met to discuss the US proposal to gain access to Ukraine's mineral wealth. The media reported an ‘antagonistic’ atmosphere at the meeting.
During these technical consultations in Washington, the Ukrainian delegation handed over to the US side the proposals prepared by Kyiv.
