Ukraine Signs Drone Interceptor Contracts Worth Over $75 million

Ukraine has signed four state contracts worth over ₴3 billion ($75 million) with domestic producers of drone interceptors, according to Minister of Defense Denys Shmyhal, The Gaze reports.
In a Facebook post, Shmyhal announced that three companies received contracts just this week, marking a significant step in scaling up Ukraine’s domestic drone production.
“The state is developing the market for Ukrainian drone interceptors. We now have four contracts totaling over ₴3 billion. We will continue to scale these technologies,” he wrote.
Together with First Deputy Prime Minister Mykhailo Fedorov, Shmyhal met with representatives from the Brave1 defense tech cluster, the Ministry of Digital Transformation, drone manufacturers, and Ukraine’s largest volunteer foundations to focus on supplying frontline troops with unmanned systems.
Special attention was given to drone interceptors capable of countering Russian Shahed drones. Shmyhal emphasized that President Zelenskyy has made the development of this sector a national priority.
He also noted that discussions are underway with major state-owned banks to offer government-backed loans to drone manufacturers.
The Ministry of Defense is negotiating with international partners to secure additional financing for the procurement of interceptors, with initial agreements already reached.
“We are consolidating efforts for security and a peaceful future,” Shmyhal concluded.
