Ukraine, Denmark Expand Defense Ties With New Industrial Initiative

Ukraine and Denmark are set to deepen their defense cooperation with a major new project under President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s Build with Ukraine initiative.
The Gaze reports this, referring to an announcement made by Ukraine's Defense Minister Denys Shmyhal.
Danish Defense Minister Troels Lund Poulsen, accompanied by members of the Danish Parliament, met with Ukrainian leaders.
“This next stage builds on the proven success of the so-called ‘Danish model’ of support,” Shmyhal said. “Producing Ukrainian weapons in Denmark ensures our armed forces receive everything they need more reliably and quickly.”
Under the agreement, Denmark will help co-produce Ukraine’s 155mm Bohdana self-propelled howitzers, along with drones, loitering munitions, and electronic warfare systems.
The arrangement aims to shield production from the risk of Russian missile strikes and reinforce industrial ties between Copenhagen and Kyiv.
The initiative builds on a Letter of Intent signed in June that allocated 500 million Danish kroner ($72 million) to establish Ukrainian defense production lines in Denmark.
In July, the scope was expanded to include a wider range of drone systems – from tactical reconnaissance UAVs to long-range strike platforms.
Talks also addressed Ukraine’s most urgent battlefield priorities: strengthening air defense to protect against Russian missile and drone terror, and developing long-range strike capabilities to pressure Moscow into genuine negotiations.
Kyiv expressed gratitude to Denmark for its broad support – political, military, and humanitarian, which leaders emphasized strengthens not only Ukraine’s security but also the collective defense of Europe.
As The Gaze previously reported, Ukraine and Lithuania took another step toward deepening their security partnership, with both countries’ defense ministers signing a Letter of Intent to jointly produce advanced military equipment.
