Ukraine Slams Plans for Serbian Troops to March with War Criminals in Moscow

The Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has issued a strong statement regarding the upcoming participation of Serbian military personnel in Russia’s May 9 Victory Day parade on Red Square, hosted by Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin, The Gaze reports, citing European Pravda.
The response came after Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić confirmed that a Serbian military unit would take partin the Moscow parade, and that he would personally attend the celebration, despite pressure from the European Union.
During a briefing on April 25, Ukrainian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Heorhiy Tykhyi addressed the issue following a question from EuroPravda:
“The Russian military who will march on Red Square on May 9 are quite likely participants in war crimes against Ukraine and against Ukrainians in the course of Russian aggression.”
“That is, any foreign military personnel who plan to participate in this parade should be aware that they are likely to march side by side with people who committed war crimes in Ukraine,” Tykhyi emphasized.
Earlier, European officials warned that Vučić’s visit to Moscow could be viewed as a violation of criteria for EU accession and might damage Serbia’s ambitions to join the bloc.
Nevertheless, Vučić reiterated that he had not changed his mind about attending the Kremlin’s Victory Day events.
As The Gaze previously reported, the European Union has given a clear instruction to EU candidate states not to attend the 9 May parade in Moscow and not to visit Russia.
