US and European Officials Reject Trump's Claim

American and European officials have stated that there are currently no new assessments from the US or Europe that would indicate significant changes on the battlefield or a possible “Russian advantage,” as previously stated by US President Donald Trump.
A Ukrainian military official acknowledged that the Russians are advancing, but said this “is not a fundamental change compared to what has been happening over the past few months.”
Western officials acknowledge that the situation is difficult for Ukraine.
“Ukraine is gradually losing strategic positions in the east due to exhaustion and limited defensive positions,” said a senior US official.
At the same time, Latvian Foreign Minister Baiba Braže emphasized in an interview with CNN that “the truth is that Russia has captured less than 1% of Ukraine's territory over the past year.”
“So, of course, this is not a victory in the war. These are not the goals that Putin and the Kremlin are pursuing. He wants to deprive Ukraine of its sovereignty. He wants to subjugate Ukraine as a country. So, on the battlefield, they are not achieving this,” she stressed.
