Ukraine’s President and First Lady Arrive in Rome to Bid Farewell to the Pope

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy, First Lady Olena Zelenska and the Ukrainian delegation have arrived in Rome to take part in the farewell ceremony for Pope Francis, who died on 21 April, Ukrainian presidential spokesman Serhiy Nikiforov has said.

The pontiff's funeral will take place on 26 April.
The Vatican announced the participation of 130 delegations in the funeral, including 50 heads of state. White House President Donald Trump, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and others are expected to attend.
Zelenskyy expressed his readiness to meet with US President Donald Trump, who also flew to the funeral.
On the evening of 25 April, Zelenskyy said that it was important for Ukraine to be present at the Pope's funeral, and if the head of state could not go in person, the country would be represented by the foreign minister and the first lady.
As The Gaze reported earlier, the leaders of the EU and NATO, as well as the President and Parliament of Ukraine, have expressed their deepest condolences on the death of Pope Francis, who passed away on 21 April at the age of 88.
