Ukraine Recovers Rare 1844 "Trebnyk" Prayer Book Signed by Metropolitan Sheptytsky

Ukraine has found and returned a rare old book – the 1844 prayer book "Trebnyk”, autographed by Metropolitan Andrey Sheptytsky, a prominent religious and public figure of the 20th century and leader of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church.
The Gaze writes on this, referring to the Foreign Intelligence Service of Ukraine.
It is believed that “Trebnyk” was lost during World War II, when the church was looted and part of the church archives were destroyed or scattered. The fate of the old print remained unknown for a long time.
The book bears the following inscription: "Proposed during the canonical visitation of 1902, on May 10th, in the village of Kosteniv". There is also a signature by Andrey Sheptytsky, certifying that the book was used during a canonical visitation in the village of Kosteniv in the Lviv region, led by the metropolitan himself.
“Trebnyk” is not only a monument of printing and liturgical art, but also evidence of Sheptytsky's personal presence in the life of a particular parish,” the message says.
The old print has now been transferred to the Ministry of Culture and Strategic Communications of Ukraine.
