Ukrainian Becomes Fencing World Champion

Vlada Kharkova won the first award for the Ukrainian national team, winning a gold medal in the individual épée tournament.

On her way to the final, 28-year-old Vlada Kharkova defeated rivals from Switzerland (15:9), Great Britain (15:14), Hungary (15:9), France (15:14), South Korea (15:14), and in the decisive match defeated Katrina Lehis from Estonia 15:14.
On the podium, in addition to Kharkova and Lehis, there was also Katrina's compatriot Irina Embrich and another bronze medallist, Son Se-ra from South Korea.
Throughout its history of participating in world championships, the Ukrainian team has won 45 awards - 13 gold, 12 silver and 20 bronze.
The 2025 World Fencing Championships will end on 29 July.
