Ukrainian Team Wins Gold at Fencing World Championship

Ukraine's women's national epee team has won the 2025 World Junior Fencing Championships in Wuxi, China.
The Gaze reports on this with reference to the Ukrainian Fencing Federation.
On the final day of the competition, Anna Maksymenko, Emily Conrad, Alina Dmytruk and Valeria Bilous-Gridzhak took first place in the team junior championship.
On the way to the final, the Ukrainians defeated Brazil (45:25), Canada (41:37), the reigning world champions USA (45:43), and in the decisive match they prevailed over China (45:34).
This is Ukraine's first team medal at the World Junior Championships since 2021 (foil bronze in Cairo), and only the third in history in women's epee. The previous two (silver) were won in 2005 and 2006, when the team included future Olympic champion Yana Shemialiakina.
The epee fencers' gold became Ukraine's third medal at this championship. The team's other achievements include junior team gold, silver by Alina Dmytruk in the individual cadet epee competition and bronze by Maksym Perchuk among juniors.
Ukraine's national team is in the top 5 in the overall medal standings of the 2025 World Junior Fencing Championships, behind only the USA, Italy, Egypt and Canada.
As The Gaze reported earlier, in February, the Ukrainian fencing team has won gold at the European Cadet Fencing Championships in Antalya, Turkey.
