Anastasia Falileeva's animated film “I Died in Irpin” was awarded at the Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival. The Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival is one of the most prestigious short film festivals in the world and the largest short film market.
Director Anastasia Falileeva emphasized that this award is important not only for the animation industry, but also for the Ukrainian film industry as a whole.
The film “I Died in Irpin” is the director's personal reflection on the 10 days she spent in Irpin at the beginning of the full-scale invasion. The film also highlights her experience of violence in her relationship with her boyfriend and her interactions with his parents.
This animated work is drawn with charcoal. The author explains that this material is as fragile as her memories of Irpin. "For me, that time under occupation was like 10 endless days that merged into one. I could hardly remember what we did on this day and what we did on that day — I only remember some moments."
