The leaders of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, parliamentary factions and groups have appealed to US President Donald Trump, the Congress and the American people, reminding them of the importance of the United States' support for Ukrainians. This was reported by the website of the Ukrainian Parliament.

‘The contribution of the United States of America as a strategic partner of Ukraine is crucial among international allies in supporting our country in the most difficult times of its history,’ the statement reads.

The Parliament, on behalf of the Ukrainian people, expresses gratitude to President Trump, the US Congress and the American society ‘for their firm and consistent support of Ukraine's independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as for the security assistance packages provided to Ukraine, which helped stabilise the situation at the frontline’.

The authors of the document emphasise that Ukraine's stability and security largely depend on the continued support of the United States.

‘Today, this support is more important than ever for the Ukrainian people and the Security and Defence Forces of Ukraine, as well as for security and stability on the entire European continent,’ the statement reads.

It is also noted that Ukrainians want peace and hope that President Trump's personal role and peacekeeping initiatives will be crucial to ending the fighting as soon as possible and establishing peace in Ukraine, Europe and the world.

It is also stated that the Verkhovna Rada supports Trump's initiatives to launch a negotiation process aimed at achieving peace and emphasises the need to further develop the strategic partnership between Ukraine and the United States, in particular in the field of exploration of critical minerals.

As reported, on Friday in the White House, the presidents of Ukraine and the United States were to sign an agreement on rare earth mining, but the talks ended in a dispute and were disrupted.

As The Gaze reported, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that the first steps towards a lasting peace with Russia could be the release of prisoners, an immediate ceasefire in the sky and at sea, and Russia should do the same.
