The annual Paris International Street Photo Awards, dedicated to street photography, is open to photographers around the world.
Ukrainian photographer Igor Babiy received an award in the Black & White SP category for his photo ‘Photo #19 from the artist's collection Street Photo #1’.
His photo, taken by a lake in the Pozniaky district of Kyiv, shows a man taking a picture of his wife, with a stroller with their baby next to him. The young woman has recently become a mother. She is sitting on a concrete wall, arms outstretched, wings stretched and smiling happily as if in flight.
‘This photo is about love and motherhood, about the hopes of a young family, about the power of the moment and my vision of the world around me. I am glad that a fragment of our Ukrainian reality has found a response in the hearts of the international jury,’ the photographer wrote on Instagram.
