Ukrainian Press Officer Saves Dutch Reporter from FPV Drone Attack
In Kostyantynivka, a press officer of the Armed Forces of Ukraine shot down a Russian FPV drone that was attempting to attack foreign journalists.
The Gaze reports on it, referring to the 24th Separate Mechanized Brigade of King Danylo on Telegram.
The incident occurred while a journalist from the Dutch publication Het Nederlands Dagblad was documenting the destruction of a local church after Russian shelling.
Oleg Petrasyuk, press officer of the 24th Mechanized Brigade named after King Danylo, noticed the drone above the church and destroyed it with shots from his automatic weapon.
His quick actions prevented casualties among the military and the film crew.
“This saved the lives of our comrades and the journalist,” the statement said.
The incident once again highlighted the risks journalists face when documenting the consequences of war in frontline areas.
Earlier, two journalists from Ukraine’s international broadcaster were killed in Kramatorsk after their vehicle was struck by a Russian Lancet loitering munition.
The Gaze previously reported that another Russian drone attack on Ukrainian soldiers in the Dnipropetrovsk region resulted in injuries to WELT journalists and the death of one soldier.
