UN Security Council to Hold Emergency Meeting Over Russia’s Massive Missile and Drone Attack on Ukraine
The UN Security Council will hold an emergency meeting on Wednesday, 28 August, in connection with Russia's massive missile and drone attack on Ukraine on Monday.
This was announced on social media platform X by Ukraine's Permanent Representative to the UN, Sergiy Kyslytsya.
‘Ukraine and partner countries from the UN Security Council initiated a meeting of the Council to consider the latest developments in the Russian regime's aggression against Ukraine and their consequences. The events of this Monday will be in the centre of attention. Everything said by the Russian terrorists will not only be part of the official minutes of the meeting, but will also be the subject of future tribunals for war criminals led by their Kremlin Fuhrer,’ the statement said.
According to DW, Russian media reported that on Friday, 30 August, at Russia's request, the UN Security Council will also hold a meeting on the supply of Western weapons to Ukraine.
As previously reported by The Gaze, during the most massive Russian attack on 26 August on Ukraine, the Ukrainian Air Force shot down 102 Russian missiles and 99 drones out of 127 missiles and 109 UAVs launched.
The Russian attack killed 7 people and injured 47. Energy facilities were damaged in several regions.
Today, on 27 August, Russia again launched a massive missile and drone strike against Ukraine. Ukrainian air defence forces shot down 5 X-101 cruise missiles and 60 attack drones.
