U.S. Says It Can Fully Replace Russian Energy Supplies to Europe

U.S. Energy Secretary Chris Wright has declared that Washington is ready to completely substitute Russian gas and oil products in Europe.
The Gaze reports this, referring to his interview with Fox News.
Wright said that although Europe has already taken steps to diversify its energy imports, the transition is moving more slowly than Washington would like.
“Today, the United States is prepared to replace all Russian gas flowing to Europe and every Russian petroleum product,” he emphasized.
Wright explained that during a recent six-day tour, he met with European leaders to reaffirm U.S. readiness to supply their energy needs.
He also tied the issue directly to global security. “Peace is on President Trump’s agenda. And to achieve peace, we must deprive Putin of resources,” he said.
The Energy Secretary urged the European Union to accelerate its plans to phase out Russian liquefied natural gas, warning that every reduction in exports is a direct blow to the Kremlin’s war chest.
“Pipeline gas cannot be easily redirected elsewhere. Those are simply lost revenues for Putin, which limits his ability to sustain the war. That’s why we want to move much faster,” Wright added.
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen has backed U.S. President Donald Trump’s call for Europe to cut its reliance on Russian energy, saying the EU is moving toward a full phase-out of Moscow’s oil and gas supplies.
The European Union aims to completely end imports of Russian fossil fuels by 2027 under its RePowerEU strategy, but Washington is pressing for a shorter timeline.
As The Gaze reported earlier, Trump also signaled plans to press Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán over Budapest’s dependence on Russian oil, a stance that has complicated EU efforts to present a united energy front.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy voiced hope that Trump’s influence could persuade Orbán to align more closely with European partners in curbing purchases from Moscow.
