Oleksandr Usyk, the world heavyweight boxing champion, has made an extraordinary appeal to U.S. President Donald Trump, inviting him to visit Ukraine and experience firsthand the challenges faced by ordinary Ukrainians living under the constant threat of Russian missile and drone strikes.

The Gaze reports on this with reference to CNN Sports.

Usyk called on Trump to take concrete action in support of Ukraine, urging him to honor his campaign promise to quickly end the war with Russia.

Usyk expressed deep frustration over Trump’s previous assertions that he could resolve the war in a matter of days, highlighting the stark contrast between the words spoken and the reality on the ground.

“Donald Trump, please open your eyes and help my people,” Usyk urged. “You claimed that within a month, or even a day, you would stop this war. But you have not kept your word. Why say these things if you do not intend to act on them?”

In an unexpected move, Usyk extended an invitation to Trump to come and stay in his home in Ukraine, offering the U.S. president a personal experience of the situation.

He assured that Trump would be provided with full security during his stay but insisted that the visit be kept secret to avoid any interference from Russian forces.

According to Usyk, if Trump were to visit secretly, the Russian authorities might cease their attacks, as they would be less likely to escalate tensions during the visit.

“I propose that he live in my house in Kyiv for a week,” Usyk continued. “He can see for himself what it’s like to live under the constant threat of missiles and drones. That’s when he will truly understand what is happening here.”

While Usyk’s words may seem bold, they underline the desperate situation in Ukraine, where civilians and soldiers alike endure relentless bombardment from Russian forces.

CNN highlighted that Usyk’s residence is located in the suburban village of Vorzel, in the Bucha district, an area that has been severely impacted by the war.

As The Gaze reported earlier, on May 1, Oleksandr Usyk also appealed to U.S. President Donald Trump, calling on him to stop the war in Ukraine.
