President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a press conference following the NATO Summit in Vilnius.

Here are the most important statements from the head of state.

"We have received a great deal of positive news, and we have received an unequivocal statement that Ukraine will be in NATO as soon as the security situation is stabilised."

"Ukraine will not change any status for any territory: "We will never exchange any status for any of our territories. Even if it is one village where one grandfather lives".

"We will not give up our territories and will never exchange them for a frozen conflict. This will never happen. My position is clearly known to our partners."

"It is very important that the G7 declaration managed to enshrine that the security guarantees will be in place until Ukraine joins NATO and will be ratified with each state separately, in their parliaments.

This is a serious document, not the Budapest Memorandum

In addition to the Group of Seven states, up to half a dozen other countries have agreed to provide Ukraine with so-called security guarantees.

"I am sure Poland and other countries will be there. Four or five states immediately said that we are joining," Zelenskyy said.

Commenting on the issue of the possible deployment of NATO troops in Ukraine, which was speculated before the Vilnius summit, Zelenskyy stressed that neither the Alliance nor Ukraine is interested in this as long as it does not have membership.

"I believe that in this case, our armed forces are sufficient. The question is about specific NATO-type weapons," he added.

At the same time, he suggested the opposite situation, in which Ukraine would be asked to send troops to strengthen security in the Alliance.

"Our partners understand that we have a powerful army, and when we are in NATO, our military, who are understandable, with military experience, I am sure, can be invited to provide security in the territories of other NATO countries within the framework of the current legislation," he said.

"We want our land back. We want to return security to our territory. We want to return people who were forced to go abroad. We need to punish all these crimes. And this is part of justice, and justice is part of victory.

Zelenskyy also stressed that he still considers NATO's decision "unprecedented and absurd", as he insisted the day before.

"I have not changed my point of view," he said.

Zelenskyy explained this contradiction by saying that he believed the allies who assured him that Ukraine would be in NATO: "I don't know if everyone is honest with me, and if everyone is truthful. But we have to live with faith in our allies."

"There is no decision to provide Ukraine with long-range ATACAMS missiles yet"

When asked about Ukraine's expectations for the next NATO summit, Zelenskyy said: "It's true, we believe in victory."

"We believe that the next very important step for Ukraine will be at the next NATO summit - symbolically, after all, 75 years of the Alliance - in Washington. I think we need to work hard and prepare for this summit," Zelenskyy said.

As reported by The Gaze, the NATO Summit in Vilnius adopted a three-part package of decisions on Ukraine, including the path to NATO membership.
