Fake news

Volodymyr Zelensky called statements about an alleged drone strike on Russian leader Vladimir Putin's residence fake news. He also said that the American side had been informed of this.  “Our negotiating team got in touch with the American team, they talked about the details, and we understand that this is fake news. And, of course, our partners can always use their technical capabilities to verify that this was fake news.”

Next steps

Is this related to sanctions? Maybe a little, but in my opinion, it is more related to the fact that there was a fairly successful conversation and meeting, a positive meeting between our teams over the course of a month, which culminated in our meeting with President Trump, and we understood the plan that our advisers have been working on since January 3.

Rustem Umerov has just reported on an agreement with national security advisors from the Coalition of the Willing countries to hold a meeting in the near future. We are planning for January 3 in Ukraine. 

We are planning for January 6 in France. I am grateful to President Trump's team for their willingness to participate in all effective formats. Today, our teams communicated and discussed with Rustem the next steps and priorities in the negotiations. 

Ukraine's economic recovery

The plan for Ukraine's economic recovery, which is being discussed with Donald Trump's team, provides for the creation of new jobs and a significant increase in Ukrainians' incomes – to three times the current average salary.

According to him, this is a package of documents for the recovery of the whole of Ukraine, not just individual regions.

Trump, according to Zelensky, considers job creation in Ukraine to be “the number one task,” and the American side “really wants” the arrival of American business on special terms to triple Ukrainians' salaries.

Similar conditions are planned for European businesses, based on agreements between the governments of Ukraine, the US, and European countries.

The president added that Ukraine will need a significant amount of money for reconstruction at the start so that people can return to new jobs with higher pay, and he sees this as a “great prospect” for post-war development.

 Trump's visit  to Ukraine 

 Zelensky believes that a visit by US President Donald Trump to Ukraine would be beneficial, especially if the head of the White House flew directly to Ukraine by plane.

 “I think it would be useful if President Trump could come. He talks about advocating for a plan to end the war. I told him that we would be happy to see him,” Zelensky said. He added that it would be “desirable” for the US president to fly directly to Ukraine rather than to Poland.

“Because if President Trump, the President of the United States of America, flies to Ukraine – and it would be desirable for him to fly directly to Ukraine, rather than to Poland and then travel by train – then this would indicate that we definitely have a chance of achieving a ceasefire,”  

Air defense systems

President Volodymyr Zelensky said that US President Donald Trump promised him assistance with air defense systems after learning about the “situation” in Ukraine.

“We had a separate second block with President Trump – that I really need air defense. I really need NASAMS missiles. I really need PAC-3 missiles for the Patriots. And I don't want to talk about our current situation publicly, but I showed and demonstrated this to the American side,” Zelensky said.

According to the head of state, “President Trump said he would help me.”

"I am grateful to him for that. I handed over the relevant documents with the quantities we need and how we need them. Separately, I said that we are ready to buy all of this through the PURL program. And here I want to thank the Europeans for filling this program. And we have the opportunity to buy air defense systems. I only asked the president, if possible, to help us. The sooner, the better," Zelensky said.
