Zelenskyy Briefed on Drone Incursions From Hungary Into Ukrainian Airspace

Ukraine has recorded the intrusion of reconnaissance drones from Hungary, as reported by Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
The Gaze reports on it, referring to Militarnyi, citing a post made by the President of Ukraine on Telegram.
“The Commander-in-Chief also reported on recent incidents involving drones on the Ukrainian-Hungarian border,” Zelenskyy said, adding that the Ukrainian military had detected reconnaissance drones, presumably Hungarian, entering Ukrainian airspace.
“They may have been conducting reconnaissance on industrial potential in Ukrainian border areas,” he wrote.
The Ukrainian President also instructed to check all available data and report immediately on each new recorded fact.
No other details regarding the number of drones, the time or the consequences of the incident are currently available.
It is worth recalling that in May 2025, the Security Service of Ukraine (SSU) exposed a network of Hungarian military intelligence agents in Zakarpattia.
Among the agents was a 40-year-old former military officer from the Berehove district, who was recruited in 2021 and placed on “standby.” In September 2024, he was “activated” and tasked with gathering data.
The agent was to ascertain the mood of the local population regarding the possible introduction of a Hungarian peacekeeping contingent, look for places to purchase military equipment, and collect information about the forces and resources of the Ukrainian military.
The SSU documented that he personally reconnoitered the positions of the Defense Forces and the coordinates of the S-300 air defense system in the region.
As The Gaze reported earlier, Lithuanian Foreign Minister Kęstutis Budrys said that the EU has a “plan B” that will allow negotiations on Ukraine's accession to move forward despite Hungary's veto.
