Zelenskyy, Kellogg Discuss Sanctions, Security, and Abducted Children

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met in Kyiv with Keith Kellogg, the U.S. President’s special representative, to discuss further measures to pressure Russia and to advance humanitarian efforts, particularly the return of Ukrainian children illegally deported by Moscow.
The Gaze reports this, referring to Zelenskyy’s post on social media.
Ukrainian President described the talks as constructive, emphasizing that sanctions and tariffs must remain on the international agenda to compel Russia into genuine negotiations and bring an end to its war of aggression.
“We are ready to talk in a leaders’ format. Such a format is exactly what is needed to resolve key things. Now such readiness is needed in Moscow,” the president said.
Zelenskyy expressed deep gratitude to the United States for its continued support and underlined the importance of recent high-level consultations in Washington.
He noted that the summit with European and U.S. leaders demonstrated “true unity between Europe and America” and set out important political, defense, and economic outcomes that now need to be implemented.
“Ukraine, as always, unites the world. We value the readiness of the United States to be part of the security architecture for Ukraine, and our teams are actively working on its development,” Zelenskyy stated. He voiced expectations that the key foundations of this framework would soon be finalized.
Military cooperation, Zelenskyy added, remains central to the partnership with Washington. He pointed to two priority avenues: a weapons procurement agreement and a deal on drones that could significantly strengthen Ukraine’s capabilities.
He also stressed the importance of maintaining momentum within the PURL mechanism, which enables the purchase of American equipment through pooled partner funds, with efforts now underway to bring in additional countries.
On the humanitarian track, the president placed particular focus on the return of all Ukrainian children forcibly taken by Russia. He said he hoped the United States, including President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump, would continue to play a personal role in securing their release.
Earlier, Kellogg also held talks in Kyiv with National Security and Defense Council Secretary Rustem Umerov and Presidential Office Head Andrii Yermak, where the discussions centered on security guarantees for Ukraine.
As The Gaze reported earlier, during his visit to Kyiv, US President Donald Trump's Special Envoy Keith Kellogg noted that diplomatic work on security guarantees for Ukraine is ongoing, complex, and requires active coordination with world leaders.
