Zelenskyy to Meet Nearly 20 World Leaders at UN General Assembly in New York

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy will embark on one of his busiest diplomatic weeks, with nearly 20 meetings scheduled with world leaders on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
The Gaze reports this, referring to Zelenskyy’s evening address.
He confirmed that the schedule already includes “almost two dozen” bilateral talks with leaders from across the globe. The first meetings are set to begin on Monday.
“It will be the week of the UN General Assembly with various events and meetings. The schedule already includes nearly two dozen meetings with leaders from different countries, from all parts of the world – with everyone who has long supported Ukraine and those who are among our new partners,” the president said.
A key highlight of the week will be Zelenskyy’s meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump. According to Zelenskyy, the discussion will focus on security guarantees for Ukraine.
He noted that the agenda was coordinated in advance with U.K. Prime Minister Keir Starmer during Starmer’s recent meeting with Trump.
The Ukrainian president underlined that Kyiv’s main objective is to push forward initiatives that can bring the war’s end closer. “It is vital that this week strengthen the world’s resolve for robust action – for without strength, peace will not prevail,” he added.
Alongside bilateral diplomacy, Zelenskyy announced a global summit dedicated to the return of Ukrainian children forcibly deported by Russia. He described it as a “landmark event” that should galvanize international action.
Sanctions will also be high on the agenda. Zelenskyy welcomed the European Union’s agreement on its 19th package of measures against Moscow, which is expected to be formally adopted soon.
“In recent weeks there were sanctions from other countries – from Japan, Australia to Britain. Pressure on the Russian oil fleet, on Russian energy trade. Pressure on all Russian schemes of circumventing sanctions, including through cryptocurrency. I thank Europe for this pressure,” the president stated.
As The Gaze previously reported, the European Commission presented its 19th package of sanctions against Russia, covering energy, finance, the shadow fleet, crypto platforms, and companies in Russia and third countries, in order to halt the Kremlin’s military economy and make it more difficult to evade sanctions.
