Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has announced that he plans to hold a series of bilateral meetings during the UN General Assembly in New York, including with US President Donald Trump.

The Gaze reports on this, referring to Interfax-Ukraine and Ukrinform.

Among the topics of discussion are economic cooperation in the fields of business, technology, defense, and agreements on mineral resources. There may also be a meeting between the first ladies of Ukraine and the US, dedicated to humanitarian issues and the topic of Ukrainian children abducted by Russia.

Ukraine also expects to hold a summit on the return of children, in which 38 delegations are ready to participate. In addition, there will be a meeting of the Crimean Platform with the participation of about 30 countries.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy also said that if Russian President Vladimir Putin does not agree to a meeting, the US should increase sanctions pressure on Russia.

"We expect sanctions if there is no meeting between the leaders or, for example, no ceasefire... If the war continues and there are no moves towards peace, we expect sanctions," Zelenskyy said.

Regarding the meeting with Trump, the Ukrainian president stressed that he expects signals about the possibility of obtaining real security guarantees from partners and discussing sanctions against Russia.

The President highlighted that the US remains a key ally in these matters.

“President Trump expects strong action from Europe. I have stated my opinion: I believe we are wasting a lot of time if we wait, do not impose sanctions, or do not take the steps that we very much expect from him,” Zelenskyy said, adding that delaying this would slow down the pressure on Putin.

He also stated that Ukraine supports Trump's position and is working with European countries to encourage them to move away from Russian energy resources.

“I believe that, on the contrary, if President Trump takes serious steps, he will push some European countries that are involved in the energy economy with Russia,” Zelenskyy emphasized.

As The Gaze informed earlier, U.S. President Donald Trump has suggested that Europe could help bring the Russian-Ukrainian war to an end by imposing sanctions or tariffs on China, Moscow’s biggest energy customer.
