Zelenskyy's Office Head on US Visit Results: Preparing for Meeting Between Presidents

The Office of the President of Ukraine hopes to organise a meeting between Volodymyr Zelenskyy and US President Donald Trump on the sidelines of the G7 summit on 15-17 June, according to the head of the office, Andriy Yermak.
The Gaze reports on this with reference to the Interfax-Ukraine news agency.
Yermak said that the visit to the United States by a Ukrainian delegation led by First Deputy Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko was aimed, among other things, at preparing for a possible meeting between Zelenskyy and Trump during the G7 summit in Canada.
‘Our visit was also a preparation, I think, for the meeting between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and President Trump on the sidelines of the G7 meeting in Canada, which will take place in 10 days. It was one of the important steps in preparing for this conversation,’ Andriy Yermak said.
He also said that the Ukrainian delegation met with about half of the members of the Senate and the heads of key committees of both houses of the US Congress, explaining Ukraine's position on the war and sanctions against Russia.
According to Yermak, there is a ‘clear understanding’ in Congress of the need to support Ukraine.
Last week, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed that he had been invited to the G7 summit.
As The Gaze reported earlier, the previous meeting between Zelenskyy and Trump took place in the Vatican on 26 April, when dozens of world leaders arrived for the funeral of Pope Francis.
